An open-source relational database with full ACID transactions and an advanced type system. Beyond standard SQL it has JSONB, full-text search, range types, window functions, CTEs, row-level security and a rich set of extensions (PostGIS, pgvector, TimescaleDB). Its query planner and MVCC concurrency are mature enough that it stays a safe default for anything relational.
